We’re continuing our We Are Wolf series by highlighting the people who help make Wolf such a special place. This month, we’re featuring Christian Rodriguez, our Building and Grounds Coordinator. Keep reading to learn more about Christian, his journey to Wolf, and what he enjoys most about being part of our community.
1. Can you tell us briefly about your background and how you came to work at Wolf?
I worked for subsidized units in Dorchester, MA, as a maintenance man for over 15 years. During my time there, I realized that I was more than just a maintenance man. During this time, I also ended up having a son and realized I was away more than I was home. Then came a few school job openings with a better schedule that allowed me to be home and spend time with my family. After a few school jobs, I went online and found out that The Wolf School was hiring for a Building and Grounds Coordinator. I did my research prior to applying for the position, and was excited to just apply. Then I got the call from Anna, and the rest is history. It has been the best job I have ever had, and the school makes me feel so welcomed and right at home.
2. What made you want to work in a school setting?
The reason I decided to work in a school setting is not only the joy of the kids running through the hallways and the funny jokes and laughter that fill each day, but also the schedule and time off give me more opportunities to spend time with my family.
3. What do you enjoy most about your role at Wolf?
I enjoy my role because I love making sure the building, the students, and staff are safe and everyone has the supplies they need. I also enjoy working with the faculty and staff here at Wolf. They put in so much hard work and really give their all to these kids, which is why the school thrives and why I would feel comfortable sending my kid here if they ever needed it.
4. What is your favorite thing to cook or favorite meal to enjoy?
My favorite thing to cook is Empanadas because they are so good and easy to make.
Christian, you play such an important role at Wolf and we are lucky to have you as part of our community!
