It’s a new year and what better way to kick it off than showcasing more of our incredible staff! Since September, we’ve been introducing you to new members of our staff. This month, learn all about Julia Del Vecchio, a new Teacher Assistant here at The Wolf School.
1. Can you briefly tell us about your background?
I grew up in Pawtucket, RI, and went to college at Messiah University in PA! I really enjoyed art and music as a child. I played guitar and painted often. At college, I majored in PreK-4 education and minored in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I spent a lot of time in public elementary schools and a few preschools in college before working at Wolf!
2. What motivated you to want to work in a school setting?
I love the creativity, passion, and joy within the school setting. When the students start to work on projects or come together for school events, I really get to see their personalities shine. There are just so many fun school festivities to enjoy together. Also, I learn so many new things as I build relationships with students, and I love discovering the different ways that their brains work.
3. What is the most rewarding part of working with Complex Learners?
The most rewarding part of working with Complex Learners is, what I call, solving the puzzle. It is extremely rewarding to finally figure out how a student works best, and which strategies are good for them. As I get to know more about who they are and their personality and needs, I learn exactly how to work with them and help them accomplish their goals.
4. What is your favorite part about working at Wolf so far?
My favorite part about working at Wolf is the staff and student community. Wolf is the most positive work environment to be in, and the most supportive school team to be a part of. People are constantly looking out for one another, encouraging healthy practices, coming up with creative ideas, and celebrating the little things!
5. What is your favorite wintertime activity?
In the winter I enjoy going to coffee shops and making little paintings. I love coffee, and I love how warm and cozy coffee shops are. Sometimes I’ll take work there with friends. Art in the form of sketching or painting using tiny watercolor supplies is one of my favorite things to do with people during the colder months.
With creativity and kindness, Julia has been a spectacular addition to the Wolf School team. We are so grateful to have Julia here at Wolf! To learn more about other Wolf Staff, read some of our past We Are Wolf interviews!
