As October wraps up, the Wolf community has truly found its rhythm for the new school year. This month, we’re excited to spotlight one of our newest team members in our We Are Wolf series—Carlin Tripp, our new Teacher Assistant!
1. Can you briefly tell us about your background?
I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2021 after a long break from school. In 2023, I started working as an instructor with Gnome Surf, an organization that teaches surfing (and skateboarding!) to children (and adults) who have special needs. I have also worked as an elementary school substitute teacher, a kids’ rock climbing coach, and a group care worker at a DYS facility.
2. What motivated you to want to work in a school setting?
After instructing a number of Gnome skateboarding sessions at The Wolf School and other schools in the area, I really grew to love being in schools. I enjoy the energy of the students and embrace the opportunity to bring a positive and supportive attitude to their educational experience.
3. What is the most rewarding part of working with Complex Learners?
I love the different approaches that are required to work with Complex Learners, and the fact that one size does not fit all. I enjoy helping them navigate the ups and downs of education and the day-to-day, and sharing the satisfaction of learning and doing new things.
4. What is your favorite part about working at Wolf so far?
I love the community we have at The Wolf School. The admin and the families are all very kind and seem to have the best interests of the students and staff as their priority. I feel like Wolf is a great place to learn and grow as an educator working with Complex Learners.
5. What is your favorite way to unwind/relax?
It’s hard to think of just one! Some of my favorite ways to unwind and relax include playing the guitar, attending live music shows, gardening, cooking, and exercising.
Welcome to Wolf, Carlin! We are thrilled you have joined our community and can’t wait to see the impact you make on our school with your creativity and positive energy!
