This year’s Founders’ Day was special for many reasons. Along with celebrating 20 years of Wolf with students, staff, and families, The Wolf School also honored five community members who have played an important role at Wolf since the beginning. We were thrilled to honor Jeanette Epstein (Director of Enrollment at Wheeler School), Jon Green (Head of Hamilton School), Mark & Katherine Pelson (alumni parents and Board Members), and Jessica Robins Miller (our founding Head of School). We are so grateful for all they have done for Wolf! Going forward, we will recognize other community members at Founders’ Day to thank them for the crucial role they have played in our history. We look forward to continuing this new tradition!
Following the schedule of a typical All-School Assembly, after a school-wide greeting, next up was presentations from our classrooms. Each classroom presented a creative and thoughtful project ranging from acting out a story in the sensory arena to a collaborative poem and art project depicting how it feels to be an 8th grader at Wolf. These projects not only highlight the Immersion Model© at work but they also show just how much our students have grown during their time here. We are so proud of all of them!
We also managed to pull off a big surprise this year and shocked our own Anna Johnson when we presented her with the 2019 Founders’ Day award! This award goes to a staff member who embodies the tenets The Wolf School was founded on – discovery, creativity, confidence, collaboration, and achievement. Anna has never received a Founders’ Day award in all her years of service and it’s only fitting that she be given this honor in our 20th year. As her husband Scott says, “She loves Wolf and lives Wolf, quite literally every day.” Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Anna!!!
