This September, not only are we welcoming in a brand new school year but we’re also welcoming 6 new staff members. Over the next few months, we’re going to take the opportunity to introduce you to each of them in our monthly We Are Wolf interviews. This month, meet a new (but returning!) Teacher Assistant – Madeleine!
1. Can you briefly tell us about your background?
Growing up with a mom who was a teacher always inspired me to work with kids. In college I worked at summer schools or as a camp counselor. I first worked at Wolf from 2014-2016, then got my Masters in Teaching. Now I am starting a new chapter as I find myself back at Wolf while also hopefully going back to school to become a Mental Health counselor!
2. How does it feel to be back at Wolf?
It feels just like yesterday I was here, but so much has changed in the best way. I love seeing how much the school has grown and all the new curriculum programs. I can feel the positive energy from the faculty, staff and students and I think it’s going to be a great year.
3. What are you most looking forward to this school year?
I’m looking forward to getting to know the students and creating unique relationships with each one. I am particularly excited to work with the 8th graders because getting them ready for the next step after Wolf is so exciting and rewarding.
4. What is your favorite part about working with Complex Learners?
My favorite part is coming home each day after learning something new from one of my students. We’re all here to teach them, but we end up learning so much from them too. For example, did you know that some of the water we drink is older than the solar system?! But it’s not just fun facts – I’m inspired by my students’ kindness and resiliency.
5. What is your go-to motto or favorite quote?
Recently I had a wise friend remind me of the great question: “What would you do if you were not afraid?” Sometimes life requires us to take risks and just go for it!
We are so thrilled to have Madeleine back at the Wolf School for the 2022-2023 school year!
