We Are Wolf: Mara Scoliard

A familiar face at The Wolf School since 2005, chances are you already know our next We Are Wolf subject, Mara Scoliard. As the Development & Admissions Associate, Mara plays a critical role in the day-to-day happenings as well as the tremendous behind-the-scenes work that is needed for Wolf to continue to thrive. Learn more about her, and her time at Wolf, in this month’s We Are Wolf interview!

1. Can you share a bit about your background and how you ended up at Wolf?

Before Wolf, I was lucky to be able to be home raising my kids for 10 years but then wanted to get back into the working world. I had always worked in sales/customer service and while talking to Jeanette Epstein one day at the Wheeler School, where my kids attended, she told me about a new school where she was on the Board, that needed to hire since they were growing. I immediately reached out and loved what I saw and loved the idea that I could meet great families, work with amazing staff, and be part of a team – all during school hours for my kids. That was back in 2005!!

2. What is your favorite part of working at Wolf?

My favorite part is meeting incredible families who will do anything to find the right school for their child and seeing and hearing how their lives have changed so positively once enrolled at Wolf.

3. What is your favorite Wolf School tradition and why?

I know it’s crazy but Discover the Difference!! It is so much work but I love getting to work with our dream team of Rebecca, Anna, and Gary along with a great committee made up of parents and past parents. It’s amazing to see the outcome, raise such critical dollars, and enjoy an evening hearing how lives have changed because of the teachers and therapists at Wolf.

4. How does it feel to have seen Wolf continue to grow during your time here?

I sure feel old because when I started, we had an enrollment in the 20s and now we’re over 70! It’s been incredible to see firsthand during both Rosy Granoff’s time and now Paula Kelly’s tenure as Director of Enrollment, the work being done to allow Wolf to grow incredibly over my 18 years here – from how expertly they determine the right matches for our classrooms, attend conferences to get the word out about Wolf, invite referral sources to view the magic that happens and maintain these relationships. There are still many families who need us so I can only see Wolf continuing to grow!!

5. Where is your favorite place in Rhode Island and why?

My favorite place is walking the seawall or sitting at the beach in Narragansett. My husband and I moved there 7 years ago after my youngest went to college and have loved hearing the waves and seeing the water 12 months a year!!

We don’t know where we’d be without Mara! We are so incredibly grateful to have her knowledge, creativity, dedication, and commitment to Wolf for the past 18 years. Thank you for all that you do, Mara! To learn more about other Wolf Staff, read some of our past We Are Wolf interviews!

Wolf would never be where we are without Mara being such a positive and gracious part of the Admissions and Development teams. Thank you!
