As recently shared, we are thrilled to announce that current parent, Donald McCaughey, has been elected as the Wolf School’s new Board Chair. This is just the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting year! While Don is no stranger to the Wolf School community, we wanted to take the time to share a little bit more about him with all of you! Take a look below to learn more about Don and this exciting new role!
1. Can you tell us a little bit about how you and your family came to Wolf? How long have you been here?
This is Hugh’s eighth year at Wolf. Previously, we were at an independent school in Rhode Island. We would take him for outside services, speech, OT, etc. It was very disruptive to his day and must have been very confusing for him. After getting a neuropsychological evaluation it was recommended we consider Wolf.
2. When did you know The Wolf School was right for your family?
We knew immediately upon our first visit that Wolf was the right school for Hugh. Everyone understood our son and his complex needs. We have been made to feel like true partners with the school.
3. What is your favorite Wolf School tradition and why?
I love Closing Ceremony. It’s great to see and hear from our students and celebrate all they’ve accomplished throughout the year. This year, I also attended my first Wolf School graduation ceremony. It was inspiring to see how far these kids have progressed throughout their time at Wolf. While each Wolf family has its unique challenges, we are all on similar journeys. Events at Wolf build a real sense of community and belonging.
4. What are you most looking forward to in your new position as Board Chair?
The school is so well run. Anna is laser-focused on operational excellence. I think I most look forward to collaborating with Anna, her team, and the Board to bring the Wolf experience to a wider audience. It seems clear that post-pandemic, the need for the Immersion Model© is greater than ever. I also look forward to ensuring our facilities complement and support our world-class education.
We are so thrilled to have Don step into this new role within our community!
